2004

Liam Connolly Roadfreight was one of the first to be invited to join the new Pallet Network in 2004. The family-owned company was founded by Liam Connolly in 1981 and is sited on a three-acre purpose built transport hub located in Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, close to the border. ‘They offer bulk liquid transport services and operate a large fleet of stainless steel food grade tankers with a carrying capacity of 30,000 litres.

On the first night of the Pallet Network, they sent 26 pallets to Dublin. Since then they have seen their groupage business grow significantly and they now input on average 200 pallets each night. ‘We use the network for what we need it for, said Darren Connolly. ‘We’ll send a full load to Cork but if we have two or three pallets for Castletownbere,
we’ll send them through the network.” Customer service is at the heart of the success of Liam Connolly Roadfreight. According to Darren: Our customers are never told ‘we won’t do it. The same level of customer services applies in the network and communication is critical clients won’t stay without it. In TPN, depot principals talk with each other. If there are issues, we deal with them.

Liam Connolly Road Freight won the first ever TPN Depot of the Year award in 2008. The company won again in 2013. Awards are important, said Darren. You can’t put value on what it does for the depot and for the staff-it puts a spring in their step.
