The 50th edition of the Galway Summer Stages Rally rolled out on Sunday, 1st September 2024. The event sponsored by Bluebird Care, has been running since 1972. Depot 108 – Langan Couriers, based in Oranmore, County Galway, sent us dispatches on this year’s event.
Galway crew, Jason Gorham & John Kilmartin, competed in a Langan Couriers – TPN liveried Honda Civic in the Motorsport Ireland Junior Class (16). Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for the pair in this round. No doubt we’ll see them back racing on closed roads again soon.
Galway Summer Stages was based around the Domac Plant & Tool Hire Premises in Poolboy Industrial Estate, Ballinasloe, with service area in Ballinasloe Mart. The stages were located near Aughrim and Kilconnell, Co Galway.
The rally was won by Josh Moffett & Keith Moriarty in a Hyundai i20 R5 – currently leading the Irish National Rally Championship. In hot pursuit were Josh’s older brother, Sam Moffett, and James O’Reilly, in another Hyundai i20 N Rally just 11 seconds behind. Eddie Doherty & Tom Murphy were another 4 seconds back in their Skoda Fabia.
